Poulton-le-Sands is a Church of England Primary School providing primary education for children aged 4 to 11. Our school is currently organised into seven classes, from Reception to Year 6.

If you are considering a place for your child to start with us in the Early Years Foundation Stage (Reception) for the following September, please see our Early Years Admission section below. If you are interested in your child joining us at any other point in the primary phase, please refer to our In-Year Admissions section.

Early Years Admission Arrangements

Our school’s Admission Policy follows the Lancashire Local Authority guidelines for Voluntary Aided Schools. Applications for Reception places are made electronically through the Local Authority, allowing the admission criteria to be applied fairly and transparently.

The Local Authority provides the school with a list of applications without revealing parental preferences. Our Admissions Committee then categorises and ranks applications in line with our Admission Policy and submits the list back to the Local Authority for final processing. Parents are then notified of the outcome.

To ensure fairness and consistency, our Admissions Committee strictly follows the criteria set out in the school’s Admission Policy. Please find the relevant documents and resources below:
